The Embodying Compassion approach is unique because it intervenes on multiple levels to address  concerns related to body and self acceptance.  We address the level of thought, or cognition, by identifying self-judging thoughts and practicing shifting them. By practicing mindful breathing, cultivating moment to moment awareness, and opening to gratitude, evidence from the fields of positive psychology and neuroscience suggest that we can cultivate and more easily access feelings of well-being over time through the development of new neural pathways. The Embodying Compassion approach is also embodied, incorporating gentle movement from the traditions of yoga to help to bring us into greater awareness of our bodies.  Another important component of the approach is being in community, which allows us to access the powerful healing energy that comes from connecting with the compassion of others.
